When starting out I gravitated towards all that lovely advice caressing my ego and making me feel good about myself. You know the type of drivel I’m talking about:
Find what you love doing and the money will follow
All you need is an idea and the desire to make it work, I believe in you!
If you’re struggling to write, take a walk to recharge your creativity
Fucking. Bullshit.
I followed all that crap advice and you know where it got me?
Nowhere.
I was working for peanuts and had no idea how to progress to better-paying clients because as much as I believed in myself, I didn’t have the right tools or processes to build a business.
I wasted two years of my life on that shit, and I want to stop you from doing the same.
So I’m not here to coddle you or tickle your bollocks. I’m not going to tell you everything is going to be OK. That if you follow your dream one day everything will work out. Or that you’re doing OK and your best attempt is pretty damn good when it’s not. 
If something you do is shit, I’ll say “this is shit”. But I’ll also tell you what we can do to make it better.
And sure, your ego might take a hit and I might bruise your pride. It’ll probably suck.
But it’s worth it.
